Case Study : Roxby Council

Roxby Council is located in remote far north of South Australia. Roxby Downs was a purpose built town to service the Olympic Dam mine site. Today Roxby and surrounding areas is a vibrant and young community offering much more with art galleries, scenic tours, nature trails, parks and playgrounds.

Roxby Council are new to the Unity Content Management System after coming from a static interface that was managed by their previous web development company. Roxby Council were drawn to the Unity capabilities and wanted to populate Unity objects throughout their site to maximise their online presence.

Their home page provides quick access links so you can navigate throughout the site easily from the moment you enter their site. Unity search function has been made prominent and will quickly find what your looking for in the website. Their popular tabs allow quick access to commonly accessed pages such as "Paying your Rates" and "Waste Service" information.

Roxby Council were keen to minimise scrolling from the home page and avoid an overload of information to the visitor. Popular links, latest news and events can all be easily accessed through our tabs system we created below the main banner.

We were asked to create a new sub section for their Roxbylink information which is a business unit of the Roxby Council that provides leisure, recreation and cultural support to their community - http://roxbydowns.sa.gov.au/roxbylink.  A landing and internal sub section where created with their own "theme" for Roxbylink, yet the structure of the page keeps consistency with the rest of the website. On their landing page we have populated the key elements that needed promotion such the events through an interactive banner, Facebook feed and access to all internal pages through a custom drop down.

The website overhaul process involved new imagery, a fresher colour palette and clear wireframe layout for the positioning of key elements. Their new website uses a responsive layout for all screen resolutions and platforms.
